I'm more of a 2WD Drag street truck guy myself but there is no denying that this is one badass rig.

That poor transmission, I wonder how often it needs rebuilt.

probably pretty often. it's running a 3spd auto if that helps? less gears to replace maybe?

Needs more roll stiffness.

Wait, did I really just say that about a jacked-up truck? Lol. I should go to bed.

There's not really any gears, it's the clutchpacks that burn up. That much power is rough on an auto trans and driving it like that creates tons of heat. Heat plus torque equals fried tranny. The clutch packs are alternating steel discs and friction discs and are engaged using hydraulic pressure.

might not be as often as you think....

truck looks purpose built for the sand. there really isnt too much torque on sand (the motor can make 3000ft-lbs for all I care, its just going to spin the wheels in the sand)

not to mention there are transmissions built to hand crazy amounts of power. lencos for example.

It's not a lenco, it's most likely a turbo 400. I hadn't considered the sand factor in my initial thought process, you're right about that.

A TH-350 never needs rebuilding*

Also I wish I lived closer to sand. This would be a better use of my Dak than trying to build an offroader.

I burned up the TH-350 in my van twice from towing a boat. Of course they need rebuilding. You can get a pretty much bullet proof TH-400 for 5-8 grand but it won't last forever either.
